Joan's Trinket

Its about time

If not for stupidity, I would have written only when my heart will get broken. But then I mused on the trinkets, the words, the emotions that were left in my past writings… I pitied myself. Beautiful were the words, but hurtful were the memories. I have always adored writing. It has always been my harbor. And this time, it wont be a harbor of griefs, hurts, tears, and the broken pieces of my heart. Writing will be my oasis of smiles, love, contentment, and life. Gone are the days where I sulk and write about the pain. I welcome life, savoring each minute as though it were X, Y, and Z…

I always go back to the one thing I feel most safe - writing.

Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge.
The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter,
‘Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don’t fall into the river.’
The little girl said, ‘No, Dad. You hold my hand.’
‘What’s the difference?’ Asked the puzzled father.
‘There’s a big difference,’ replied the little girl.
‘If I hold your hand and something happens to me,
chances are that I may let your hand go.
But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens,
you will never let my hand go.’

It’s not a matter of checking everything on my list. It’s about having your own, and complimenting mine.

These days I haven’t been sleeping
Staying up playing back myself leavin’
When your birthday passed and I didn’t call.
And I think about summer, all the beautiful times,
I watched you laughing from the passenger side.
Realized that I loved you in the fall
Then the cold came, the dark days when fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love and all I gave you was “Goodbye

You’re better then the best I’m lucky just to linger in your light Cooler than the flip side Of my pillow, that’s right

Completely unaware Nothing can compare to where You send me, lets me know that it’s okay Yeah, it’s okay And the moments where my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed Sing like bird, dizzy in my head Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night

You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile

Before I will sleep, I started my 2011 with a prayer. First, I recalled every chapter of 2010. It was a box-full of memories. The vacations and my summer are the chapters that made me smile the most. As for the pain and tears, they’re stored in a better place as my own brand of learnings. I ended my prayer with my hopes this year. Health, strength and understanding in the family is my greatest prayer. As for love, I surrendered myself to Him; that I may have the will to wait for the right man, at His time. In my new year’s prayer, I prayed for a better year, A BETTER ME.ü

Three words we forget to say: So be it. Yes, so be it. Uncertainties rise up, so be it. We know it will be clearer sooner or later. Problems flock in, so be it. Solutions will come, realize that. SO BE IT. There are just things larger than our grasps, and to forcefully get a hold of it would cause to fall instead. We can’t control everything, so be it. Lets just enjoy as the waves caryy us.” This is what I tell Joan. :)

What” and “if”, two words as nonthreatening as words come. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: ‘What if?’…I don’t know how your story ended. But I know that if what you felt then was love – true love – then it’s never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart…I don’t know what a love like that feels like… a love to leave loved ones for, a love to cross oceans for… but I’d like to believe if I ever felt it. I’d have the courage to seize it. I hope you had the courage to seize it, Claire. And if you didn’t, I hope one day that you will.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FREEDOM

(From EAT PRAY LOVE)

1. Life’s metaphors are God’s instructions.

2. You have just climbed up and above the roof. There is nothing between you and the In- finite. Now, let go.

3. The day is ending. It’s time for something that was beautiful to turn into something else that is beautiful. Now, let go.

4. Your wish for resolution was a prayer. Your being here is God’s response. Let go, and watch the stars come out—on the outside and on the inside.

5. With all your heart, ask for grace, and let go.

6. With all your heart, forgive him, FORGIVE YOURSELF, and let him go.7. Let your intention be freedom from useless suffering. Then, let go.

8. Watch the heat of day pass into the cool night. Let go.

9. When the karma of a relationship is done, only love remains. It’s safe. Let go.

10. When the past has passed from you at last, let go. Then climb down and begin the rest of your life. With great joy.
